Sexy New Paranormal Romance from Sam Cheever – Trick or Devil

trickordevil_nook

When you “read” ghosts for a living, Halloween can be a bit hectic. Even so, Samantha Straeng hadn’t planned on a swashbuckling devil carrying her off to Hell.

For Samantha Straeng, Halloween, which happens to be her busiest time of year, is about to get even more complicated than usual. The drop dead gorgeous man who just walked into her ghost reading business, Back from the Brink, unfortunately isn’t there to hire her for a reading. He has some strange notion of dragging her waaaaay South, where temps are in the thousands and the only thing she’d be reading was a scorched copy of Dante’s Inferno.

Sam has no intention of going to Hell, no matter how sexy her escort is. So she squelches his plans the only way she knows how, using her powers as a witch and her ability to make use of a ghostly cast of characters to escape.

What she wasn’t counting on was just how determined her sexy devil is. And how far he’ll go to win her over.

5-stars

“I thoroughly enjoyed reading this delightful and entertaining book, I found the book to be witty and extremely hilarious at times. This book covers: a feisty witch and ghost whisperer with a attitude (Samantha Straeng). A dark angel/demon stunned by Samantha attitude (Captain Horacio Barabossa). A baddie and escapee from hell (Barrackas). The story-line and plot is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of needs, lust and desires. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written humorous and entertaining book.” 5 Star Reader Review

heart

“They call you Samantha Straeng, yes?”

“That’s my name.” She cocked her head, her fingers fumbling nervously with the deck of tarot cards. “Do you need me to read somebody for you? A recently deceased relative? A nemesis from the nether regions?”

The vision in pantaloons frowned. “Why would I do that? If I wanted to talk to someone in Hell I’d just talk to them.”

Her eyes went wide. “Oh. So you’re a reader too?” His obvious hostility suddenly made sense. She cocked a hip. “Look, Black Beard…”

He scrubbed a big, square hand over his jaw. “I have no beard, black or otherwise.” His gaze narrowed on her. “Are you mad?”

Sam shrugged. “Not anymore. But I’ll admit that last spook tweaked my temper strings a bit.”

He crossed densely muscled arms over his chest. The shirt gaped open again and Sam wanted to sigh. “You speak strangely, witch.”

“I speak strangely?” She laughed. “That’s rich. Who the hell says lass?” She indicated his clothing. “And dresses like a pirate? You know Halloween isn’t for a few hours.”

Her visitor cast a gaze the color of storm-tossed seas over himself. One dark gold eyebrow peaked. “What is wrong with my clothing?”

She shook her head. “Look, bud…”

“My name is not Bud, nor is it Black Beard.” To her great entertainment, he bowed, extending one pantalooned leg, complete with tall leather boots that ended in wide cuffs just below his knees. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Captain Horacio Barabossa and I have come to engage your services.”

Her eyes went wide. “Captain?” Something about the man was off. Instinctively, Sam used her evaluative powers to read his aura, finding it much darker than it should have been. There was also a golden haze of sulfur glowing on the edges, which told her he carried a type of magic not often seen on the earthly plane. He wasn’t human. She’d stake her license on that. But then the obvious question became, What is he?

“At your service.” He threw a small bag onto the table before her. It hit with a jangle and a thump that made it sound heavy. “What’s that?”

“Payment for your services.” He reached out and wrapped long, strong fingers around her wrist. “Come, time is of the essence.”

Samantha yanked her arm away from him and stepped back, her fingers already forming the signs for the spell she would need. “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what this is about.”

His golden brows lowered, his lush lips pursing. “There is no time.”

A gossamer web appeared on the air between them and began to twine itself into an expelling enchantment. Her fingers dipped and spun on the air, her magic swelling. “You’re gonna have to make time, Barbie. I’m not going with you until I know what you want me to do.”

His frown deepened, then suddenly cleared, only to be replaced by a smile.

Her fingers stuttered in their spell-making and Sam sucked in a breath, lost in a sea of lust built of square chin, full, kissable mouth and dimples as deep as the blue in his gaze. She should have known she was in trouble.

There was more than one way to bewitch a person. He bowed again. “Forgive me for intruding. I will look elsewhere for assistance.”

Sam frowned, her fingers drooping from the spell, and then she nodded. “Okay, I’m so…”

Quick as a snake he whipped around, wrapped an arm as hard as iron around her waist, and stepped into a portal of sparking, silver swirls with her.

All Hoale-ows Eve by Declan Sands

allhoale-owseve

A Hoaley Addictive Halloween!

Adam and the gang are just out for a fun night of trick or treating when a dirty devil plows into Mink and leaves a surprise in his candy bag. Next thing they know, Mink’s in jail and they’re hunting for an international jewel thief named Monkey. Will the trail of tricks end in treats for everyone involved? Or will they all end up with egg on their faces and TP on their shoes? There’s only one way to find out!

heart

Mink stumbled over his cape and nearly pitched face first into a water-filled ditch at the side of the road. Clinking like the tin man, Delf grabbed hold of Mink’s pitchfork and kept him almost upright. His overflowing bag of candy tipped dangerously, causing Mink to shriek in a decidedly unmanly way.

Adam lifted the patch off his right eye and peered out from underneath it. “Avast ye, matey. Ye’re ballast appears to be unbalanced.” The sound-activated parrot on Adam’s shoulder squawked, causing Maddy to jump and shriek. “Good god, Ads!” I swear I’m gonna pinch that parrot’s head off before the night’s over.”

Mink slammed the bulging bag against his chest, turning a fiery red face in Adam’s direction. “You’d better watch the talk about my ballast, Ads.” He grinned widely, his teeth nearly glowing white against the cherry red of his face. “Delfie likes my ballast, don’t you honeybuns?”

The giant, red-haired knight of the round, or square, table, Adam wasn’t entirely sure, lifted a creaky arm and shoved the hunk of metal covering his handsome face upward. “You’re lucky if I can find your ballast wearing this outfit,” he groused.

“I think you might have enough candy Minks.” Adam lifted his own, much less bulky bag. “You have easily four times what the rest of us do.”

Dressed as Wonder Woman, Maddy adjusted her fake boobs and cocked a padded hip, her mink-brown pageboy dancing under a sparkling gold lame headband. “That’s because everybody can tell we’re adults and they all think he’s a child.”

Mink frowned in her direction, looking a little scary since he had horns and a pitchfork. “I beg your pardon. They’re more generous with me because I’m so damn loveable. You…” he swung an accusing finger over his three friends. “You’re all cranky. Nobody wants to give candy to a bunch of sour pusses.”

Adam gave up on the patch and tugged it up to his forehead. “Sorry to burst your bubble Suzie Sunshine, but they’re shoving candy into your bag as fast as they can because Delf’s always standing behind you looking like he’s going to run them through with his staff.”

Mink’s eyebrows danced and he twirled an invisible mustache between his fingertips, using his best Groucho Marx voice, “I’d like him to run me through with that staff, yuk, yuk.”

Delf’s armor shimmied and Adam decided he was either having a seizure or he was laughing. There was no way to know for sure because his handsome mug was completely obscured by metal.

“Whatever. Wonder Woman’s feet are tired. I’m heading back to the bar.”

Mink crossed his arms over his chest, looking demonic until he stabbed himself in the cheek with his pitchfork. “Ow! Spoil sport.”

Delf clanked. “She’s right, gumdrop, we’ve been out here for hours. I think you’ve done enough damage.”
Sighing, Mink nodded. “Okay, but don’t come running to me when you run out of candy. You’re not getting any of mine.”

Turning toward the flashing neon sign of the distant bar where they’d started the night’s adventure, Adam threw an arm over Maddy’s shoulders and kissed her cheek. “I’m really glad you’re back, Mads. I’ve missed you.”

She lay her head on his shoulder, sighing. “Me too.”

The sidewalks were full ahead of them and some of the celebrants were getting a little rowdy. The crowd shifted suddenly, somebody giving a little scream as they were shoved aside.

“Hey, you poked me with that thing!” a woman shouted.

Mink chuckled. “That’s what he said.”

Delf clanked in response.

A wiry figure dressed all in red shoved free of the crowd, running down the street right at them. He kept looking over his shoulder as more shouts rose up behind him.

“What’s going on?” Maddy asked.

Adam shook his head. “Looks like somebody got too much into the spirit of his costume.”

The devil running toward them looked enough like Mink that Maddy and Adam both turned to make sure he was still behind them.

“Minks, looks like one of your people is up to no good.”

Mink opened his mouth to respond just as the devil runner stepped off the sidewalk and seemed to stumble, pitching forward and slamming into Mink. The two devils went down in a pile of horns and pitchforks and there was some unattractive rolling around and grunting.

Delf was concerned enough to tug off his helmet. “Hey, watch out.” He reached an enormous paw toward the topmost devil and hesitated. It was nearly impossible to tell which one was Mink.

Adam waded in, grabbing hold of the devil on the top and pulling him carefully to his feet. “When he was looking into the guy’s face he could easily tell it wasn’t Mink. The newcomer’s face was slender with high cheek bones and his lips were plumper than Mink’s. “Are you okay?”

The guy nodded, sending a quick look over his shoulder.

“Look what you did to my candy!” Mink was scrambling around picking up candy from the wet, dirty street. “It’s gonna be ruined!” he whined.

“Here let me help.” The other devil dropped to his knees and grabbed Mink’s bag, shoving handfuls of candy back into it. “I’m so sorry, man.”

The invading devil dropped the last handful of candy into the bag and pressed it toward Mink, pushing to his feet. “I gotta go. Sorry about the mishap.” He took off running, disappearing into an alley just as four guys in suits with guns drawn shoved free of the melee in front of the bar and pounded toward them.

“Oh crap,” Adam said. He pointed toward the alley. “He went that-a-way…”

The big guys pushed Delf aside and he stumbled backward, sounding like a tin roof in a hail storm. One of the men tackled Mink to the ground, clamping cuffs on him before Adam’s parrot could shriek, “Avast ye, maties” into the chilly night.

New Release – Hoale Lang Syne – Gay Mystery by Declan Sands

hls_full

In with the new and out with the old? Sometimes new things come with old vendettas.

A deadly game of cat and mouse has made Adam realize someone sees him as the cheese. And that same someone is setting a trap that could put an end to Adam’s love life issues…once and for all.

~~*~~

Music throbbed on the air like an audible sex act…no doubt tightening the sexual core of every living being in the place. A giant disco ball spun in dizzying circles high above the dance floor, sending fractured silver light around the room like elusive confetti.

It was a night filled with the promise of tomorrow. An evening taut with sensual innuendo. And as midnight pounded nearer with each bass beat of the music, lovers pressed ever closer, their lips a breath away in readiness for the intersection of one year with another. The moments sparkled with expectation…throbbed with promise.

And he was outside it all…lonely…immensely sad…and feeling aggressive in his aloneness. Still, he anticipated the new year like everybody else, determined to make the changes necessary to get what he wanted…needed…in his life. He viewed it as his pivot point. It was the moment when he got his life in order. And he was willing to do whatever it took to make the pivot happen.

Anything at all.

His gaze slipped toward the long, padded benches along the wall. To the figure standing just beyond the spray of silver light. He watched as the lean, muscular form straightened away from the wall, the dark head lifting to observe the swirling silver globe in anticipation of its descent.

He stared, licking suddenly dry lips. He was so close to happiness. All he needed to do was reach for it. And he was determined that he would make that reach. He was thirty seconds from embracing his destiny.

With that thought pulsing inside his mind, he pushed away from the bar and stalked toward the lone figure on the edges of the festivities, shoving a path through the mindless masses to get to him. The man he loved more than life itself.

His future.

New Release – HoHo Honeybun

hohohoneybun-510

He just wants her to take life a little more seriously. She’s decided he could have a point. Especially now that somebody wants her dead.

Dolfe Honeybun broke up with Blaise Runa because her party girl ways were driving him to distraction. Unfortunately, out of sight does NOT mean out of mind. And when his favorite party girl sees something she shouldn’t and finds herself being chased by a cold blooded killer… reason shuts down and Dolfe’s heart takes over. If only he can get to her in time!

Dolfe Honeybun stood in the shadows and watched his ex-girlfriend flirt with a tall, annoyingly good looking guy on line at a popular nightclub. She looked spectacular as usual, her long, slimly curved form lovingly embraced in some kind of shimmery white material which didn’t cover nearly enough of her.

He frowned as the man she was speaking to leaned forward, whispering something into Blaise’s ear as his hand slipped over her hip and stopped on her firm, round behind. Dolfe’s pressure spiked and he was moving forward before he could stop himself.

He crossed the street to the blare of horns, almost completely oblivious to oncoming traffic. Red flares were flashing in front of his eyes and his hands were clenched into fists. As he plummeted heart first into complete loss of control, Dolfe took some comfort in the fact he hadn’t pulled his gun.

It didn’t matter that Blaise deftly, and with a smile, removed the man’s hand from her delicious behind. It didn’t even matter that she walked away. Because the other guy’s lust-saturated gaze followed her sexy sway down the sidewalk, her heels click-clacking rhythmically on the concrete as she walked.

Dolfe decided in that moment the man had to die.

He headed straight for the cocky, overdressed buffoon who was accepting knuckle bumps from his friends by way of celebrating that he’d copped a feel from the gorgeous black woman with the million dollar smile.

Dolfe would rip him into such small pieces his friend Brita Muldane, the cop, wouldn’t even be able to find the body.

The weasel turned as Dolfe stormed toward him, his unintelligent blue eyes widening at the look on Dolfe’s face. He took a step back as Dolfe reached for him.

Dolfe’s ears roared. He could taste every beat of his heart as his pulse surged to the danger zone. And adrenaline had him by the throat as he grabbed pretty boy’s expensive tweed coat by the lapels and dragged him off the ground.

“Hey!” the guy’s friends coughed out. But when Dolfe turned his murderous gaze on them they lifted their hands and stepped back. Apparently judging their friend to be unworthy of having their own blood spilled.

Somewhere on the edges of Dolfe’s awareness a familiar click, clack, click, clack intruded, the sound speeding and getting louder as it got closer.

He shook the offensive pup like a rag doll and pressed his face close. The young punk stank of expensive cologne. He was damn lucky he didn’t smell like Blaise.

That would have signed his death warrant for sure.

Click, clack, click, clack…

The guy tried tugging Dolfe’s hands from his coat without any success. “What the hell, man?”

“You think that’s the right way to treat a lady?” Dolfe growled into his face.

The guy blinked under every word, as if he were being pelted with buckshot. “What lady?”

Dolfe’s growl deepened and the guy’s heels lifted another inch from the ground. “Wrong response, punk.”

Click, clack, click, clack…

“Hey come on, dude,” the guy whined. “Blaise is just a friend.”

“You always run your hands all over your friends’ asses?” Chuckling from the guy’s disloyal friends abruptly stopped as Dolfe skimmed them with a hostile, green glance. When they were properly quelled, Dolfe refocused his hostility where it belonged. “You want to feel up my behind?”

More chuckling.

Click, clack, click, clack…

The guy grimaced. “I don’t play for that team, dude.”

Dolfe shook him. “But I thought you always felt up your friends. I’m thinking you and me are friends.”

“Damn it, Dolfe!” A soft, long-fingered hand gripped his arm, tugging on it. “Let him go.”

Dolfe inhaled deeply, her exquisite scent spearing his senses and rolling like warm butter over his nerves. “Stay out of this, honey. The guy dissed you. I’m takin’ care of it.”

She tugged harder. “Dolfe Honeybun, you let go of him right now and come with me.”

He finally turned to look at her and forgot to breathe. He’d almost forgotten how beautiful she was…how delicious she looked and smelled. He frowned, turning back to the punk. “Learn respect you little jerk.” He dragged the guy off the ground another half inch just to drive home his point and then flung him away.

The punky kid stumbled backward several steps, his friends catching him before he landed on his ass.

Dolfe turned away and immediately forgot him. He grinned. “Hey, honey. You look stunning as always.”

Blaise glared at him, her long, slender arms crossed over her chest. Her pretty brown eyes flashed with pique. “Let’s take a little walk, shall we?” She started down the sidewalk, her four inch high spiked heels click-clacking angrily against the concrete.

Dolfe winked at the disgruntled punk and started after her, his gaze sliding over the crowd of males to ensure nobody else got any ideas about disrespecting his girl.

He blinked, his stomach twisting with disappointment. Scratch that. Blaise was now his ex-girlfriend. They’d broken up the week before. Basically because of the very thing he’d just interrupted.

Blaise hit the corner and stopped, turning back to him with a decidedly unhappy look on her beautiful face. The golden light from the streetlamp illuminated her delicious form, making her look like an ebony skinned angel with fire in her veins. She fairly vibrated with rage. Her whole form was taut with it, her delicate jaw working over the words she no doubt wanted to fling his way.

She didn’t even wait for him to reach her before she launched. “What the hell is wrong with you? What are you doing stalking me?”

Dolfe drifted to a stop and shoved his hands into his pockets, holding her fiery gaze. He was fully aware he’d acted badly but he didn’t care. He’d do it again in a heartbeat.
